Trenton Walks! named finalist in Sustainable Jersey Success Stories Contest

TRENTON, NJ — November 6, 2026 — Trenton is getting recognized for putting its best foot forward! Trenton Walks!, a community walking initiative led by the Trenton Green Team, has been selected as a finalist in the Sustainable Jersey Success Stories Contest. Winners will be announced live on Tuesday, November 17, during the Sustainable Jersey Annual Luncheon at the New Jersey League of Municipalities Conference.

“What happens when a community comes together and takes a walk? We discover our city, connect with our neighbors, and find more sustainable ways to get around. That’s what Trenton Walks! is all about. Through free guided walks, we invite residents and visitors to explore Trenton’s neighborhoods, parks, trails, history, and public spaces while building connections and discovering all our city has to offer.” — Becky Taylor, Trenton Walks! Co-Chair.

Since launching in June 2024, Trenton Walks! has continued to grow, bringing residents and visitors together to discover the city’s neighborhoods, parks, trails, and public spaces. The guided walks promote active transportation, outdoor recreation, and public health while creating opportunities to learn about Trenton’s history, environment, and potential for future improvements. Beyond the walks themselves, conversations among participants have sparked ideas about pedestrian safety, bicycle infrastructure, accessibility, flood mitigation, and more. These discussions help connect everyday experiences with larger opportunities to improve how Trenton’s streets serve its residents and visitors.

Community members, municipal leaders, local organizations, and sustainability advocates are encouraged to attend the luncheon and show their support as Trenton competes for one of three PSEG Foundation-funded awards: $2,000 for first place, $1,000 for second place, or $500 for third place. The Sustainable Jersey Success Stories Contest winners will be announced on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at the Annual Luncheon. Tickets include admission to the luncheon. A discounted ticket also includes a one-day pass to the New Jersey League of Municipalities Conference for registrations completed by 5:00 p.m. on November 10. Tickets will not be available for purchase on-site. Register for the Sustainable Jersey Annual Luncheon: here.

Let’s show Sustainable Jersey what Trenton already knows: meaningful change starts when a community comes together — one step at a time.
