Greater Mercer TMA’s (GMTMA) eighth annual Safe Routes to School Bookmark Design contest is now underway.  The contest is open to Mercer and Ocean County students in third through fifth grade are eligible to show their ideas to create a safe community for walking or biking to school by creating a bookmark for the contest with the theme “Design your ideal street for walking and biking to school. What would it look like?”

Throughout the year GMTMA works with schools to encourage students to walk and bike to school where it is safe to do so and help communities identify solutions to improve the areas where it is not safe.  “Whether the prompt inspires future city planners or simply gets students to think more about their everyday surroundings we think this will be a fun activity to get children to express themselves creatively,” said GMTMA Executive Director Cheryl Kastrenakes.

The deadline for bookmark submissions is March 30, 2021. Entry forms are available at gmtma.org or by emailing info@gmtma.org Winners will receive a $50 gift card alongside bookmark printing! For more information about the contest and the Safe Routes to School Program go to gmtma.org.
