In Bicycling, Bike to work, Public Health, Safe Routes to School

Every year in May we celebrate Bike Month. The League of American Bicyclists established May as National Bike Month in 1956.  It’s a way to encourage safe bicycling for work, pleasure, and health.  This year, we at GMTMA will be celebrating Bike Month a little differently than previous years. The bike shirts, Bike to Food and Friends, and Bike to Work Week, contest are not back yet, but wait until you see what we have prepared for you.

Our transportation planners are hard at work creating safety videos and posts including biking gear and clothing, riding tips, how to use bike lockers, commuting with a folding bike, how to replace a tube, and more. GMTMA will also be available to answer bike related questions, assistance with finding a bike route, and bike trails information. Here is a link to a recent post on how to get ready for biking and how to find a route, and the new West Windsor bicycle/walk interactive biking map.

GMTMA is also hosting a photo contest during Bike Month.  For this challenge, you can be biking around town for errands, commuting to work, going to the library, riding to school with the kids, or any other bike rides that replace a car ride. Get creative and share your photos with us! The winner of the contest will receive a bike safety kit and a Fly bike camera.
