GMTMA Goes to “Green Get Together” 2022
Two weeks ago, on April 30, Greater Mercer TMA attended the Green Get Together held at Lawrence High School in Lawrence Township. The event was the culminating activity of Mercer County Sustainability Coalition’s week-long “Greening Together” for Earth Day 2022. It was a perfect way for us to start our campaign for Bike Month.

The highlight of the event was a bike rodeo, where children learned how to ride their bicycles safely on a special bike rodeo trail. Capital Health Systems’ Safe Kids program also gave out free new bicycle helmets and helped the children fit them correctly. Our very own Lisa Serieyssol helped with helmet fitting.

Bike rodeos are a great way to learn and practice bike safety and road rules.
At our booth, children came by to spin our Bike Wheel and answer a question about safe walking and biking habits and the rules of the road. Justine Recio-Patel and Joan Lockwood-Reck manned the booth and gave out brochures, goodies, and prizes like stickers, color-changing pencils, and colorful bookmarks from our Bike Safety Bookmark contest.

Bike safety education is for people of all ages. Kids can start learning about bike safety as early as kindergarten!
It was a lovely day overall. Thank you Pam Mount and the dedicated Mercer County Sustainability Coalition for organizing the event!

This sticker says “I love my brain” A very good reason to wear a helmet!
