Last Friday, New Jersey Smart Workplaces (NJSW) were honored at Greater Mercer TMA’s Annual Meeting and Transportation Expo.
The NJSW program recognizes employers who demonstrate leadership by providing and promoting quality commuter benefits to their employees, therefore reducing congestion and improving air quality. Each of these Employers is doing great things to promote alternate transportation. Award levels are based on the scope and number of transportation activities offered to employees.
A few actions companies are taking include: Bank of America has implemented a teleconference policy and sponsors an employee shuttle, Educational Testing Service has a monthly employer subsidy toward transit passes, and The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst encourages vanpools and has a monthly employer subsidy/benefit for employees who carpool or vanpool.

AQP lauded the University’s use of buses that run on B20 diesel fuel, use of a car sharing service with hybrid vehicles and providing carpool, vanpool and transit incentives.
