Get Ready to Ride: GMTMA Launches “Bike to Happy” Photo Challenge for National Bike Month

Princeton, NJ – This May, the Greater Mercer Transportation Management Association (GMTMA) invites bicyclists of all ages to celebrate National Bike Month by joining the Bike to Happy Photo Challenge. Participants can register from anywhere, but photos must be taken within GMTMA’s service area, including Mercer County, Ocean County, Montgomery Township, or Plainsboro, NJ.
The month-long challenge encourages people to explore their communities by bike, capture joyful moments, and share them online. “Bicycling is more than transportation. It is fun, healthy, and a way to connect with the places we live,” said Cheryl Kastrenakes, GMTMA Executive Director. “Bike Month is the perfect time for everyone to hop on a bike and discover their community from a new perspective.”
Ride the Themes: Each week features a new theme to inspire rides throughout May:
- Week 1: Bike to Nature – Enjoy the outdoors at a park, trail, or scenic spot.
- Week 2: Bike to Work or School – Make your commute a bike adventure.
- Week 3: Bike to Eats & Treats – Ride to a local café, bakery, or ice cream shop.
- Week 4: Bike to History – Explore historic sites or downtown districts.
How to Enter
- Sign Up – Register here to officially join the contest.
- Take the Ride – Complete each week’s themed ride and snap a selfie with your bike.
- Upload Your Photos – Submit your photos here. You can enter as many times as you like with different photos, giving you more chances to be featured.
- Share Online – Tag @GreaterMercerTMA and use #BiketoHappy on social media.
- Get Featured – Photos will be showcased weekly, and participants may win prizes from local sponsors.
Contest Guidelines
- Open to all ages. Participants under 18 must have parent or guardian consent.
- Photos must clearly show you and your bike at the location. Friends and family may be included if comfortable.
- Only photos taken in Mercer County, Ocean County, Montgomery Township, or Plainsboro, NJ are eligible.
- Winners will be selected from all eligible entries and contacted via the email provided at registration. Winning photos will be shared publicly after notification.
