Transit Projects

Greater Mercer TMA prides itself as being an active voice in promoting the advancement of Transit services in our area and acting as a conduit for helping others explore and use the bus or train.

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) combines the quality service associated with rail travel with the flexibility of buses for a new commute experience. It uses new technologies to improve customer convenience and reduce delay. In 2003, Greater Mercer TMA completed a concept study to explore how BRT might work on the Route 1 Corridor which served as the basis for ongoing work by The Central Jersey Transportation Forum (learn more) and NJTRANSIT (read about it).

Greater Mercer TMA is working with local stakeholders to make BRT a reality in Mercer County. For more information, contact Executive Director, Cheryl Kastrenakes.

Travel Training

Greater Mercer TMA provides instruction to senior citizens and inexperienced transit users on how to use public transit in Mercer County.

Coalition for Coordinated Transportation

Greater Mercer TMA serves on the Mercer County Coalition for Coordinated Transportation to make more transit options available for senior citizens, persons with disabilities and disadvantaged populations. For more information contact the TMA’s Mobility Manager.
